Search
Search the terminology in either language direction — with three search modes and a subject-field filter.
The start page is the search. It covers the released terminology of TUM and shows, for every hit, the designation in the source language and its counterpart in the target language.
Language direction
Source language and target language decide which language you search in and which one you want the result in. The default is German → English. The button between the two fields swaps the direction without you having to retype the query.
Every language that is active in the database is offered.
Search modes
The mode decides how strict a match has to be.

| Normal | designations that begin with your query | You know how the term starts. Fastest and most precise. |
| Fuzzy | designations that contain the query anywhere, including umlaut variants | You are unsure about the spelling. "Mueller" finds "Müller", "Strasse" finds "Straße". |
| Full text | designations and attribute values — definitions, contexts, comments | You are looking for a matter rather than a word. |
If one mode returns nothing, the next wider one often helps: Normal → Fuzzy → Full text.
Subject field
The subject field filter narrows the hits to one domain, for example administration or computer science. Without a selection the whole terminology is searched.
Result list
Each row shows the designation found, its counterpart in the target language and, where applicable, the number of further synonyms. If nothing has been recorded in the target language yet, the row says so explicitly — the concept exists, the translation is missing.
Selecting a hit opens the full entry page.
When nothing is found
On an empty result the search proposes similarly spelled terms ("Did you mean …?"). If that does not help either, the term may genuinely be missing — we are glad to hear about it through the feedback form.
Exporting results
Export as CSV downloads the current result list as a file. It contains the same hits the page shows, in the chosen language direction.
